Every August since 1987, swimmers have been traversing the 26km length of Lake Zurich in Switzerland as part of the Self-Transcendence Marathon Swim, organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. The event attracts a lot of swimmers who are considering or attempting to swim the English Channel.  This year’s event saw 46 solo swimmers and 18 relay teams from all over the world participate. 

This video brings you the highlights of the competition, showing the different swimming styles. The video also contains short interviews with the runners about their preparation for this endurance race: their answers include daily training, discipline and practising meditation.
