On August 6th 2006, 22 solo swimmers and 27 relay teams from 16 nations competed in an extraordinary event: a 26.4 km non-stop swim from Rapperswil to Zurich, Switzerland! First to cross the length of Lake Zurich was the relay-team “The Bankers” (Great Britain/New Zealand) in 6:22 h, while the first solo swimmer home was local Jürg Schmid in 7:10 h. The 19th International Marathon Swim was organised by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. This is a report by Kedar Misani from this very inspiring self-transcendence competition.
