After 12 hours I came back to the course of the Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race to speak with the runners I had not spoken to in the morning. To me it was a long interval, but to those who are part of this race it was but an instant in time in their epic journey.

The heat still hung heavy on the course, the sun was now poised to descend on the opposite rim of the horizon. While I had gone about my every day life each runner had slowly accumulated one hard lap after another. When the sun slipped out of the sky I went home. Far, far, into the dark of a sweltering New York night they continued. Each step bringing them closer to their journey’s close. – Utpal Marshall
