Sri Chinmoy - About

Sri Chinmoy was born in India and at the age of 12 moved to a spiritual community in the South of India where he practised meditation and other spiritual disciplines. In 1964 Sri Chinmoy felt an inner command to move to the west and offer the spiritual wealth of the East to aspiring seekers in the West. Based in New York, Sri Chinmoy has offered many talks on meditation and also frequently travels around the world giving free concerts of meditative music. Many students have been drawn to his teachings of meditation and an integral spiritual life. In order to practise spirituality and meditation under the guidance of Sri Chinmoy many Sri Chinmoy Centres have been set up around the world.
Sri Chinmoy entered mahasamadhi - the mystical process where spiritual masters leave the body, in 2007, at the age of 76. He was active right up until his last moment. In particular he was always eager to inspire others and bring to the fore their good qualities. Sri Chinmoy used to especially encourage those of his own age bracket. Sri Chinmoy dedicated his 740lbs seated lift and 256lbs wrist curl to those of the older generation. (see: weightlifting video)
This site, Sri Chinmoy TV, is a collection of videos inspired by the work, sporting achievements and artistic endeavours of Sri Chinmoy. There are also video contributions from members of the Sri Chinmoy Centre.
