While on a Christmas trip to New Zealand and Australia in 2002/03, Sri Chinmoy gave a powerful concert in Christchurch Cathedral. After some opening tunes on the conch he started the concert with a performance on a kind of esraj, especially built for him by one of his dear students in New York. It is called “Chinmoy Vina” and is in fact a little wider than a normal esraj, has more sympathetic strings and a much deeper sound. Hear this meditative performance for yourself in Christchurch.
